Whether you're a huge nature buff, an avid boater, a devoted birdwatcher, or just somebody who enjoys lounging in a hammock with the bay breeze blowing through your hair, Harborwalk is the place for you.
Here is a list of all of the local hot spots, and need-to-know places at Harborwalk:
Fishing
Whether you’re a fishing enthusiast, or just a occasional weekend fisherman, Harborwalk is the place for you. Without even leaving Harborwalk, you can find Red Fish, Trout, Flounder, and various other species of fish. However, there are many other fish to be caught on Galveston Bay, just minutes from the Harborwalk Marina. The Harborwalk Ships Store has live and artificial bait, hooks, lures, corks, weights, lines, stringers, nets, and anything you could need to make your next fishing trip a pleasurable one.
Boating
With its very own marina, and with kayak stations to be built, Harborwalk truly is a boater’s haven. The Ships Store has plenty of boating supplies, and even offers a concierge service that will meet you at the docks with what you need when you need it. Every home at Harborwalk has it’s own personal boat slip. With both Galveston Bay and the Wetlands within reach of one another, Harborwalk is the place for whether you have a canoe, a sailboat, a kayak, a yacht, or a speed boat.
Jet Skiing
If you don’t already have one, there are plenty of places to rent them between Galveston, Texas City, Kemah, and Clear Lake. Then again, if you do already own one, you can fill it up with gas here at the Harborwalk Marina, and then cruise the day away on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Surfing
Galveston is great place for surfers. On a day with a high tide, you can find dozens of surfers all along the Seawall. If you’ve never surfed before, now might be a good time to start. Galveston has a huge collection of independent surf shops that will set you up with the right board and tell you where to go to get the best waves.
Bird Watching
Dozens of different rare birds flock to Harborwalk because of the food and shelter they find in the wetlands that surround Harborwalk. Harborwalk will have bird observatory stations set up, so even novice birdwatchers will be able to observe the migratory patterns of these fascinating creatures.
